Laboratory Testing

Our Naturopathic Providers use a wide range of laboratory testing to help identify the root cause of your health condition. We think of it as a way of asking different questions to get different answers.
We work with various laboratory testing companies to process blood, saliva, urine, stool, and other types of samples. Your provider will determine the optimal course of laboratory testing for your individual circumstances.
Some of these labs are collected at Natura while others are collected at home, with a take-home kit that patients complete and then mail with a pre-paid envelope to the test company.
Natura offers blood draws in their comprehensive IV suite. Blood draws are done by IV Techs under the supervision of our Naturopathic Doctors.

Natura uses many reputable companies for laboratory testing. Some of these companies include:
Laboratory Partners
All trademarks are property of their respective owners

LabCorp: We send most of our blood work labs drawn in-house to LabCorp. We have negotiated very low cash-pay rates for Natura patients. This allows for us to offer blood labs for a very reasonable price, often much lower than you will find for cash-pay rates done elsewhere.
Natura will charge a fee for the blood draw that one of our IV techs will perform in-house. You will also be charged for the labs at time of the blood draw.
We do not bill insurance directly for lab testing done at Natura. We are happy to provide documentation (receipt and superbill) to allow you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
Specialty Lab Testing: For most specialty lab tests, you will pay the specialty lab testing company directly when you send in your lab test kit. This is commonly done by providing credit card information on the test requisition form.
It is our recommendation that you pay the upfront/cash price indicated by the lab. This assures you the lowest possible cost for testing. You can still enter insurance information, when the lab accepts insurance, and when they may bill insurance. If your insurance accepts it, it will be applied to your deductible, or the insurance company will reimburse. The lab companies always charge a higher price to the insurance company than the “cash” price; if your insurance reimburses fully, both you and the lab will get reimbursement. By paying up front you ensure you are paying the lowest possible cost. Our office is not involved in the insurance billing process.
Labs Drawn Outside of Natura: We are happy to send lab test orders to any laboratory you would like. However, we cannot guarantee the costs for those labs. It is our experience that insurance will sometimes cover the labs, but it determines on the insurance company and insurance plan. If you are interested in using your insurance to cover lab testing costs, please be aware of your deductible costs. Depending on your unique insurance situation, you may find it most cost-advantageous to do cash-pay labs through Natura.

Frequently asked questions
I'm not seeing my lab results on the Patient Portal. What should I do?
Depending on the lab, it may take up to 2-3 weeks for lab tests to be reported. Your doctor may want to have you schedule a follow-up appointment to review the results.
I got my blood drawn through my employer or other primary care provider. Can you use those lab results?
Yes! We are happy to reference other lab testing results you have done recently. If possible, please send those lab results to your provider, either through the Patient Portal or by dropping them off in person, so that your provider can look at them ahead of time before your appointment.
When necessary, we can easily request records from other providers offices or hospital systems. Your provider will work with you in determining which lab tests will be most beneficial for your workup and care.
Do I need to be fasting for my blood draw?
Please double-check with your doctor or the front desk to see if you need to be fasting for your labs.
I don't live close to Missoula. Can you ship laboratory test kits?
Yes! We can ship any of our test kits to you via USPS to in Montana and the US. Please expect transit time to be about one week. We will charge an additional standard shipping charge to send via USPS, unless an extra-large or heavy package or overnight delivery is requested, in which case the charge will vary.
How are patients charged for blood draws?
Please double-check with your doctor or the front desk to see if you need to be fasting for your labs.
My provider gave me a specialty lab test kit to take home. What do I do if I have questions about it?
There are certain specialty lab tests that patients might need to complete at home with a variety of collection methods and mail back yourself – a shipping label and packaging is provided by the specialty lab. If you have any questions about how to collect lab samples, billing questions, etc., we encourage you to contact the lab directly.
I'm going to get a Wellness IV but haven't had blood work done in the past 6 months. What can I do?
When you come to get your first Wellness IV, the IV Tech will run an in-house Piccolo test to check on kidney and liver function. This will be reviewed by one of our providers before starting your IV. For more information about Wellness IVs, please visit our page about IV Therapy.
